Workplace safety is a top priority for Veolia North America, and we’re committed to protecting our employees, customers and contractors from harm. Safety metrics are one of the main ways that we measure our success as a company. We continue to enhance our safety processes and training, and in 2014 we launched an internal campaign to prevent weather-related injuries.
Inclement Weather Campaign
In 2014, we launched a campaign to prevent slips, trips and falls—especially those resulting from severe weather events, since they accounted for 25% of avoidable incidents across the company during 2013.
We provided employees with a toolkit that included training guides, posters and a checklist of actions to prepare for work during severe weather events. In recent years, we have worked hard to improve safety in the workplace, and we continue to raise the bar and explore new opportunities to further reduce injuries. A Drive-to-Zero program was launched company-wide, with the involvement and commitment of each and every employee.
