Embracing Our Differences

At Veolia North America, diversity means cultivating an inclusive organization that reflects the populations we serve. We encourage breaking down barriers and embracing people from all walks of life. We take pride in our talented and diverse team. Recruiting and advancing people from diverse backgrounds makes Veolia a great place to work, learn and grow. It also helps us understand and meet the needs of customers.

Diversity & Inclusion in South Jersey

In Toms River in 2014, Veolia hosted a civic leadership initiative for college students representing 17 different African territories, supported several veteran events for nearby Joint Military Bases McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and structured specific programs for children and adults with special needs. Also, in the past two years, our operation in Toms River nearly doubled its spending with women and minority-owned diverse suppliers.

Inspiring School Children in Massachusetts

In 2014, our employees created a hands-on, working model of the Holyoke Water Pollution Control Facility in Massachusetts to help show local 5th and 6th graders the importance of keeping trash out of storm drains. Students learned how wastewater is treated and then created their own storm drain designs that were displayed at the local public library.

For this community project, “Where Does Your Water Go? Storm Drain Science, Art and Advocacy,” we collaborated with local public schools, Enchanted Circle Theater, Hitchcock Center for the Environment and the local Boys and Girls Club with a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Diverse Constituents, Communities & Suppliers

In 2014 we reached 29% of women in management, a ratio above our 28% target for 2016, and we continue to improve the percentage of women in our total workforce. Our goal for 2016 is to reach 6% supplier diversity and inclusion.

Whether teaching students about clean water or connecting with neighbors, Veolia strengthens local communities where its employees live and work.
