My Local Veolia projects

The Past & Future of Toms River’s Water

Every day, approximately 125,000 people in the Township of Toms River, the Borough of South Toms River, and the Holiday City and Silver Ridge Park sections of the Township of Berkeley depend upon Veolia for clean, healthy water services. Since 1897, Veolia has played a key role in providing safe, reliable drinking water to the area. We operate the public water supply system which provides potable water for domestic use and fire protection to approximately 50,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers within the service territory. Our operations are regulated by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) and the New Jersey Departmental of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). Water delivered to Toms River customers is currently derived from 24 in service production wells and 2 Aquifer Storage Recovery wells. The water flows through a network system that includes 536 miles of main, 10 storage tanks, approximately 3,536 hydrants and 7,528 valves. Average daily consumption is 10.5 MGD (million gallons per day). In the summer months, when the demand is high, customers may also receive water from interconnections with New Jersey American Water Company at Lakewood and Manchester Township Water Utility
