Veolia Delaware Operations Announces Spring Hydrant Maintenance program

In order to sustain high quality drinking water for our customers and assure reliable hydrant use for fire protection, Veolia is continuing seasonal water main and hydrant maintenance which began on Monday, April 4, 2022. System Maintenance will continue for the next 1-2 weeks.

Hydrant flushing is important to remove sediment build-up in fire hydrants from the winter months to improve carrying capacity and water quality within the water pipes. This cleaning serves a critical role in ensuring that Veolia customers receive top quality water service within their homes and businesses. Crews are scheduled to work Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Veolia advises that during the program, customers may temporarily experience some temporary low pressure or volume and possible temporary discoloration or cloudiness of tap water. If discoloration or cloudiness occurs, the company recommends that customers can run their COLD water for a few minutes until it clears. This allows new water to work its way through the pipes.  We apologize for any inconvenience as appreciate your patience as we conduct this hydrant and water pipes maintenance.

In accordance with best practices to maintain water quality, we will be flushing fire hydrants in the following areas Monday through Thursday for the week of June 20, 2022.

We will continue to update this post with the areas that will be impacted each week.
