HOBOKEN & JERSEY CITY - Water Main Break @ 18th & Jersey -  Advisories - February 19

Crews continue working around the clock to conduct emergency repairs on the 36" main near 18th Street and Jersey Avenue, adjacent to the Hoboken border. HOBOKEN REMAINS UNDER A BOIL WATER ADVISORY. There is currently no boil water advisory for Jersey City.

Water Service Impacts

Veolia has switched Hoboken's water feed to a secondary source, allowing for water to continue to flow into Hoboken while the work continues. Hoboken residents may potentially experience periods of low/no water pressure during this time–particularly during peak morning demand. Higher floors in residential buildings may be more acutely impacted by demand.

Residents and businesses are reminded that a Boil Water Advisory remains in effect for Hoboken until further notice, pending New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) evaluation. The Boil Water Advisory is a necessary precaution, as water pressure dropped below the recommended threshold during repairs. Please see below for reminders on how, and when, to safely boil your water for consumption.

In Jersey City, the Newport/Harborside area may experience water pressure fluctuations as those areas are fed from a secondary source to facilitate the repair. There is currently NO Boil Water Advisory for Jersey City.

HOBOKEN RESIDENTS:

In Hoboken, residents and businesses should boil their water for at least one minute for the following: washing dishes, drinking, cooking, or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets, and all other consumption. Water does not have to be boiled for showering or washing clothes.
