We have recently completed flushing our distribution lines in and around the Rye Brook neighborhood to address discoloration. Over time, minerals like iron and manganese can accumulate in water pipes. When there is a change in water flow, such as during maintenance or increased demand, these sediments can be disturbed and mix with the water, causing discoloration. Events like hydrant flushing, construction or repairs can alter the usual flow of water through the distribution system, stirring up sediments that cause discoloration. Rest assured, your water is safe for drinking and all other uses.
Your water is closely monitored and tested daily to ensure that our treatment process is effectively eliminating any harmful microorganisms. Testing results confirm that your water continues to meet all drinking water standards set by the Department of Health.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced and greatly appreciate your understanding and patience. Thank you for trusting Veolia with your water service.
